Matthias O. Schneider is Head of Kirchliche Telefonseelsorge Berlin-Brandenburg. Trainer in spiritual care, supervisor, communication coach; M.O. Schneider is a depth-psychological family and couples counselor, a certified sexual counselor, and holds a diploma in acting and directing. His interest in both pastoral care and theater lies in what happens between the sentences, between the words—whether spoken or written.
In this workshop, we want to experiment with how the written word can vary as an intervention or response to a question or crisis situation, and what empathetic messages are hidden within different replies and interventions. We ask: Are mistakes allowed in written counseling? Does AI make mistakes? How does AI read images compared to us? Do we understand AI - and does it understand us?
The vast majority of our communication happens non verbally. Within this non- or preverbal form of interaction, we often reveal more of ourselves than we might intend. In a therapeutic face-to-face setting, paying attention to this “silent” communication is essential. But what about on the phone? We might not speak for 120 minutes... Yet in any case, we will examine how physical states affect verbal and vocal communication.
