Workshop

This workshop aims to help participants build an accurate mental model of modern AI chatbots through a practical, non-technical approach. The goal is to understand what a chatbot actually is, but more importantly what it is not, and therefore what it can and cannot do, to promote informed usage. Through guided hands-on activities, we will explore how a chatbot processes user’s sentences, generates responses, and what its limitations are. The workshop will help answer some common questions: do chatbots truly understand what we say? Can they understand emotions? Do they learn from what we tell them? Why do they sometimes make mistakes? The workshop will also include a session where participants can interact with an advanced chatbot visualized through an augmented reality headset, to experience how the presence of a human body, even if virtual, can influence the way we perceive and interact with these systems  

Il workshop si propone di aiutare i partecipanti a costruire un corretto modello mentale dei moderni chatbot con intelligenza artificiale attraverso un approccio pratico e non tecnico. L'obiettivo è comprendere cosa effettivamente sia un chatbot, ma soprattutto cosa non è, e quindi cosa può e non può fare, così da favorirne un uso consapevole. Attraverso attività pratiche guidate esploreremo come un chatbot elabora ciò che un utente gli dice, come genera le risposte e quali siano i suoi limiti. Il workshop potrà aiutare a rispondere ad alcune domande comuni come: i chatbot capiscono davvero quello che diciamo? Possono capire le emozioni? Imparano da ciò che gli diciamo? Perché a volte sbagliano? Il workshop includerà anche un momento in cui i partecipanti potranno interagire con un chatbot avanzato visualizzato attraverso un casco di realtà aumentata, per esperire come la presenza di una figura umana, anche se virtuale, possa influenzare il modo in cui percepiamo e interagiamo con questi sistemi
